Диморфні гриби, які зазвичай зустрічаються у фекаліях птахів та кажанів.[2] Гістоплазмоз (хвороба Дарлінга — так її називають виключно тоді, коли гістоплазмоз виникає у людини) — інфекційна хвороба, яку спричиняє грибок Histoplasma capsulatum. [3]
